For those who are taking offfence, this is what the Alan Partridge character is all about. He is the epitomy of ignorance when it comes to any given subject. And, in this case, it's Ireland. He portrays someone who hasn't the faintest idea of what Ireland is really about and relies instead on stereotypes and misinformation. Laugh at him, treat him like the ignorant prick he is, but for crying out loud, don't get offended!

People need to lighten up. I'm Irish and think what England did here was horrible and nothing less than a holocaust. But this cartoon is more portraying many English people who remain ignorant to what happened in Ireland and simply discard it as a "famine" and then rant about the ira. It's a hilarious sketch.

Lets all just agree there was many faults on both sides of the troubles, The IRA had a good goals but terrible methods of going about it. The brits had a lot of people in charge who should not be serving in the military because of certain prejudges ideals, If the british handled the situation more carefully, and the IRA obeyed war laws and relied more on their political party sinn fein, there could be freedom for the north, but at the same time there would be a lot of irish lives and british l

@jonoessex Naaa There will never be a united ireland, Most catholics dont want a united ireland, most of them dont want anything to do with dublin...

@1984ioc I understand your perspective. I'm sure ireland will be re-united someday due to the high catholic birth rate. No one in Britain defends the wrongs done to ireland in the past I second your closing comments
