©The Cloud Foundation- Video may not be used without the express written consent of Foundation. The unique Spanish wild horses of Cloud's herd in Montana's Pryor Mountains are in danger- the Bureau of Land Management is planning to remove nearly half the herd beginning around August 30th. Please contact Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar and ask that this massive removal be stopped. To reduce the herd to the numbers proposed by the BLM older horses would have to be removed, along with mares and foals. Older mares returned to the range would be given an experimental contraceptive drug.

I had the priviledge of going up and meeting Cloud's herd personally, and I am so very glad I got to see the wild horses before the government destroys this symbol of the Historic West. There is certainly something special about these beautiful animals and it sickens me to see them treated like vermin.

Um no No one's saying that! We want wild horses..I for one want them to stay wild & Free and away from humans...

What if the horse you addopted is from Cloud's herd???
WisePillow (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I would love to adopt a wild horse.

Write to Ken Salazar if you wish. But, all of you that do need to keep in mind that he is also the one who delisted gray wolves off the endangered species. There are only a couple of thousand wolves and he plans on cutting the population in half. No species has even been delisted at such a low population level. Not ever. Where this man gets information, I don't know. Right now, it seems he only cares about ranchers and hunters... Not wildlife.

I've been emailing like crazy for all the good it will do. I certainly don't want to see Cloud's herd removed. Does the BLM stand to profit from the removal of wild mustangs? Can they lease the land out to commercial interests such as cattle grazing and oil drilling?
