@Mokurentate Japanese Beetles are incredibly interest in sex. I had a garden once that had the same problem as your garden. Sex, sex, sex. That's all those Japanese Beetles could think about. I can't think of any other critter that is as fecund as a Japanese Beetle.

Many years ago when my mom had a garden and it was infested with Japanese Beetles, I saw that almost every single one had been paired with another and they were constantly having sex. I used to push one off the top of the other with my finger cause they were eating my mom's plants, plus it was funny. I never crushed or killed any though. XD lol

I had an AOL account for years that was hep2 (HEP also stands for Hollow Earth Publishing). The Hollow Earth comes from John Cleves Symmes' Hollow Earth Theory of Concentric Circles. Symmes was my many greats back uncle.
