@MrBillThunder This is coming from my musicians perspective rather than my old fan perspective. Kirk is a good guitar player but honestly he isn't the King everyone rates him to be he himself even said he isn't the greatest at guitar however kirk is only good at 1 thing and that is pentatonic scales runs he isn't much of a virtuoso but that's ok because back in the day the world With all Metal thrash and Glam had everyone doing the same thing and very few had high technique

youtube is full of sheeps...one guy told Kirk Hammett sucks in guitar and they believed him...now many guys believe this crap...one question to these guys 'What was the first really good metal band that amazed you? Oh yes, it was Metallica...but then you didn't know what some few people talked about Kirk...SHEEEEEEEPSTHE TRUTH: Kirk Hammett is an original thrash metal guitarist and plays like this because of this... Megadeth,afterwards, changed original thrash metal solos putting more technik..

I think that James should have been the one to show the riffs. There are imprecisions and slightly different notes that when played live there will always be. After all they have recorded those albums only ONCE and after then, just played live...Having said that, I still think that be in Metallica, keep up with James (a more than fine rhithm player)and having gathered all that experience that comes from playing LIVE at high level for 30 years Kirk can not be bad. Perfect for the job, nice guy.

@Hammersch sant james är riffmakaren (tror jag brukar vara kompgitaristen som gör riffen och soloaren gör solon) och det finn tonvis med sologitarister som spelar bättre än honom
