@hoythelix202 Beta blockers are a class of drug. They reduce heart rate, natural tremors and the effects of adrenaline. That allows competitors in sports like shooting and archery to remain more calm and steady in their shots. That's why it's a banned substance.

@lbgundead You asked about the rotating bow:A good archer doesn't hold their bow *at all*. The bow is held in place by the pressure of the handle pushing back into the archers hand roughly along the "life line" (in palm-reading terms). If an archer grips the bow, they lose accuracy. When an arrow is shot, the bow jumps forwards from the hand where it is caught by a sling which stops it falling. Letting it rotate forward on the sling ensures they don't try to catch the bow and ruin the shot.

@ApprenticeOfAnubis I've shot English longbow, American flatbow (which is a relatively modern design), Hungarian horse bow, modern recurve and compound.Honestly, anyone who says any of them don't require a significant level of skill to be able to shoot well is blowing hot air.Bows that are shot off the hand have inherent inaccuracies so will never be as accurate as modern designs, but all bows take repitition of thousands of arrows and a high level of skill to get even close to "good".

Lame archers. Im tired of modern bows. should only be able to use ancient chinese bows or english longbows, or I suppose any bows that arnt modern. now that would be awesome and way more skill.

@leicam6 yep. we've always had a smaller popoulation than our neighbours so our primary weapons in war were the bow.

It could be, archery has been done by many cultures in history though and the love for archery isn't limited to the Koreans.

Why do Koreans like archery so much? Is it cultural?
