i'm sorry to say this, but this doesnt explain anything. The LAW among other things grants special power to individuals:legislative,executive and judiciary.1.If those powers are concentrated in one hand u get either monarchy or dictactorship2.If those powers are in the hands of few u get oligarchy3.If those powers are in the hands of majority u get democracy4.if there is no enforcement of law by goverment u get anarchyThe Roman REPUBLIC was an oligarchy ruled by the patricians.

I don't understand people's shouts for "real democracy" nowadays. Democracy is the rule of the majority over the minority, for it does not protect the individual's rights. Whereas in a republic you have a constitution which is guaranteeing your rights. People should rather check the definition of "democracy" and "republic", so they know in which state they really want to live in.
