I've been told that is just a myth, because the battlefield was so INSANELY loud form explosions and gunfire that you couldn't HEAR anything especially a little metal clip hitting the ground. But then again I wasn't there

I realy like the MOA deflection drum thats very smart. In Canada,Australia,New Zealand, South Africa and the UK. the lee enfield was the rifle for hunting & homesteading and of course the service rifle. But must say the fact every American GI had a semi 30-06 definatley gave the American soldier and Marien a major advantage

@3OCALM1 It still was :) When the conflict in Korea was over. Many of the US M1 never made it back to homeland, as they were bought by the Italian Army 1USD for each Kg (or something like that).

@matteoprez Wow! I'm surprised they used them as late as 1988, even for recruit training.

Thanks for the upload! Sweet memories.. .I was in the Italian Army back in '88 and yes, the M1 Garand was still the recruits gun. Heavy as hell, but although I had no experience whatsoever with firearms, I familiarized rapidly with the M1. Unfortunately, not the best choice if you're left-handed, and yes I did experienced the infamous 'M1 thumb'... Also, cartridge & case would always crash on my helmet :) Do I remember correctly the case never fully entered the chamber? Thanks again.

It's a nice gun no doubt about that, but how reliable is it? Like lets say you get mud or dirtor whatever in the breach or even down the barrel will it still be able to fire, or would you have to stop and clean it?

Damn, I want it. ^^ I have a demilitarized (spanish) Mauser 98/Spanish M43 with extended mags from 1954 as deko, but the Garand is much more interesting. ^^
