@PoshTim You are aware that this series was shelved because of this interview right? Even Shandling said ricky gervais caught him off guard as an explanation for how awkward it was. It was not planned at all, something you can find out with like 5 secs of research.

Uh, this was clearly intentional from both parties. This is exactly the type of humour that Shandling basically invented with Larry Sanders, and that Gervais continued with The Office. It was a brilliant interview, and both are absolute legends. Anyone thinking that either ACTUALLY acts like that in "real-life" have not watched both artists material fully.

Get the fuck over yourself, Garry Shandling.

What are you talking about, that this is uncomfortable... they are playing against eachother... they completely know eachothers humor. It's very very subtle humor.. completely and entirely underplayed. They are having a laugh !!

This is amazing. Like next-level awkward. It's like a meta clash-of-the-titans type of thing where the universe ALMOST implodes because of it. It's all intentional. It has to be. But are they on different wavelengths? Fascinating. I particularly like the part where Shandling asks him 'Why are you choosing to explore those uncomfortable moments.' To which, Ricky replies 'Because it's funny.' It's not funny at all here, but I'm laughing out of awkwardness. It's beyond funny. It's genius.

@cfcolly Be that as it may, these interviews had a purpose. Look at the one with Larry David. It was a casual discussion between two people, Larry wasn't Larry from Curb or anything like that. Ricky did these to ask questions, or just to talk to the people who influenced him. What did he get from this interview with Shandling? Nothing.

@LanceBeckman It's way to simmilar to gervais' comedy, Nah, it's well staged

@Damnated6mil I'm not convinced, It's to simmilar to Gervais' comedy,

@cfcolly It's not only real, this interview stopped Gervais from making any more "Ricky Gervais Meets.." (He did one with Larry David before this one). Also, a lot of times in this video you can see Ricky looking at the camera, as if he was asking WTF. |
