@dolcesho1 to whom they belonged? they belonged to Georgia; so what? that doesn't change that the Abkhazians and Ossetians were not too happy with the USSR disintegrating; they didn't want to be part of Georgia but of Russia; that being said, I am not really in favor of separatist movements in general
