Hi Peep's here's a video of what i bought today while i was out and about round my town's shopping mall, here in sunny old warrington,I poped into a store called HMV where i came across some headphone's that they have on offer,Anyway enjoy !!! MDR-XD200Closed type Hi-Fi headphones with sound mode switch suitable for both Music and Movie entertainment# Closed type Hi-Fi headphones# 40mm long stroke driver units# Capable of reproducing dynamic range sound suitable for movie watching# Ear conscious design design and Urethane leather for long lasting pleasant wearability# Sound mode switch select the sound quality to match the sound source (Music / Movie)# Use of 360 kJ/m3 high power neodymium magent for power sound reproduction# Single band with adjustable mechanism If you are looking for a pair of cans that have a very respectable sound quality but at a very cheap price then you can't go far wrong with these. The build quality is more than adequate but they lack the "weighty" feel of more expensive headphones. The bass is good but not over-powering whilst the top end is crisp.I generally get an idea of how somethings is going to sound by the look and price, when I plugged these in I was quite suprised they sound alot better than they look, very comfortable to wear and good soundNice clarity and good bass level. No distortion at high volume. Good value for money. Overall very pleasent to listen to and great for a cheap set of headphones. For the price these are good. I liked the wide earpads. I liked the punch of the sound, and they are quite responsive. I did like the fact that the higher end sounds were noticeable and that the bass does not smother everything, yet it is a good thumping base. Only real niggle, the difference between the music switch and the movie switch, does not leap out and knock you between the eyes.Sony Website : http://www.sony.co.uk/product/... @espinacho Sound Mode SwitchThese headphones feature a unique "Sound Mode Switch," allowing on-the-fly adjustment of your headphones' sound. Choose "Music" or "Movie" mode to match your sound source. "Movie" mode provides a bass boost, for higher-impact movie sound, whereas "Music" mode has a flatter EQ suitable for music. (found on amazon ) But the difference is not extreme, but it works.

@edscheindlin because they're studio headphones. For studios. where you walk around to get your coffee or if the plug is not right next to you. it's for convenience sake. They're not meant for your iphone. Though i have gotten the hang of rapping it around the left top part between the part poking out and the top band.

I had 2 pares of thes and the left headphone blew in 2 days, For both pares, BUT Mine dont make that creaking sound, AND the movie botton works on mine, When you put it to movie it gives it more bass.

can you please suggest any better headphones you've come across in these 2 years considering the price range 20 to 40 USD

I bought these about 8 years ago! The fact they still make them is a statement on its own! I use them EVERY day. No problems whatsoever. I'm a musician and I'm picky about the sound I get. These headphones never failed me. I stepped on them half weight and they are still the same shape. After 6 years the rubber headband tore(no big deal) and this year one of the cushions tore. I'm looking for spare cushions - they are easy to replace. Other than that I think they will last forever.

I didn't wash my hair for a few days so the grease from my head leaked into my sony mdr's and made the squeaking go away.. LOL
