@BF1 "Hel" is not the same thing as "hell".

@BF1 Bieber pop vocals is a stretch. I agree that depressing music deserves depressing vocals. I was just making a statement of opinion. I listen to death metal almost exclusively and just haven't been able o get into BM. It's a shame considering I find elements of it that I like, it just doesn't land as a whole package for me.

@technicolour45 Just listened to most of Dodsengel music on youtube. I gave it a fair shot and I disagree. Pensees is far better. Dodsengel is decent but not great. It's also almost all black metal which is great but has little to do with this genre. In fact most tagged it just BM and nothing more. As for BM, Ulver had superior stuff even to Dodsengel.

@sicaz527 Well keep in mind the music is depressing. One of them even titled Hel (assuming he is referring to Hell). So if you were in hell, would you be singing mainstream Bieber pop vocals?

@sicaz527 dsbm vocals are like this.. plain black metal screaming would be much better

@technicolour45 That's kind of what he says. Just that he felt the song structure was more advanced and the emotion of way it was put together was more powerful in his opinion. I'll have to listen to dodsengel.

@Lysertheshaman I've searched over a year with literally hundreds of bands of the neoclassical genre and none do it better than Pensees Nocturnes. After listening to like 6 of them in this genre per day, at the end of the I come back to PN. Baan is the only other one that kinda comes close but no cigar.

I like the music, but I've never been able to get into black metal vocals. He just sounds like an old woman crying for 10 minutes.

@Mysticum81 Because he has reached the deeper knowledge of the true essence of the world, which transcends him from the cognitive restrains of ordinary (metal) people. He has understood all the references to Hegel, Camus and Tchaïkovsky, making this music a part of his platonic elevation away from the ephemeral and into the kingdom of Nous - As well as red whine and the university study he probably has a hard time finishing. Sorry shaman, but this "high" and "low" talk really gets on my nerves. |
