@Kubrickfan27 I agree. Probably because films today are dominated by special effects & cameraman acrobatics. I just can't watch the films of today.

@blaiserfilms The 30s was another great decade of films. However, the 70s brought a great diversity of films in such a short span of time.

A good list, but to do the 70s justice you probably need about 15 to 20 minutes. Other great movies: The Godfather 1 & 2, Return of the Pink Panther, Patton, Johnny Got His Gun, Return of the Dragon, Bad News Bears 1&2, The Cowboys, High Plains Drifter, Dirty Harry, Planet of the Apes series, Star Wars, Rocky, Magnum Force, Death Wish, The Omega Man, Josey Wales, The Ultimate Warrior, Death Race 2000, Race with the Devil, Fritz the Cat, Wizards, Alien, and the Warriors.

@sociallogie Not even close, the 70s is considered the golden age of cinema by most famous directors who are well aware of american cinema history. Fledgling young directors were given almost complete freedom in the 70s. There is a good reason why over 100 film remakes are from the 70s. It's difficult today to make a film that doesn't remind you of a film from the 70s. You left out the 20s, 30s, and 40s. |
