Rappin' about CERN's Large Hadron Collider! Links below...Apparently YouTube fixed the sound! Still, Will Barras made two options trying to get around the original problems:Other YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... http://www.vimeo.com/1431471?p... is downloadable if you log in.There has been a lot of interest in the original mp3, lyrics, and vocals for remixing. You can find all that here:https://www.msu.edu/~mcal in9/lhc_rap/largehadron.htmlThere's also been interest in translation. You can get a subtitle-free version from Vimeo here (downloadable): http://www.vimeo.com/1730771Wi... backing track available here (with and without Hawking-style voice): http://barras.ws/rappin.htmlGo... ahead and translate, rap it, and post it! Just give us a shout-out, and it's probably a good idea to include the following credits ;-)Images came from:particlephysics.ac.uk, space.com, the Institute of Physics, NASA, Symmetry, and MarvelI forgot Einstein Online, and they called me out: http://www.einstein-online.inf... I forgot Physics World (dunno what I was thinking when I put together the extra dimensions bit). Steve Abel set me to rights (but made no demands): http://physicsworld.com/cws/ar... talented dancers doubled as camera people, with some work by Neil Dixon. Yeah so hopefully we acquire some mo anti-matter to help out with some energy problems, & maybe see if the free energy holders controlling the WORLD want to kick this lame 2012 into warp drive...

@Porglit I think one could call my novel theoretical fiction. It is based on actual experiments being done today. The LHC is touched on in my book. By super cold experiments, I mean laser cooling experiments..etc...And without giving up too much, do look up a strange form of matter that does not exist anywhere in the universe except on Earth called BEC. Man has actually created it. Not only are we creating it, but playing in it! We humans are just so damn smart.

@Porglit [And you have to realize, they published the paper partly as a plead to other people to figure out where they went wrong.] Yes I'll give CERN that. They did "plead" for the scientific community at large to prove them wrong. Also consider too that they knew they were about to receive extreme negative blowback. The point I was making is that it IS VALID to question the safety of the LCH experiments. Read CERN's condescending PDF concerning safety. Or trust them blindly.

@joniseh And as for black holes, my source is a physicist who work with CERN. And I don't believe Einstein said there was no such thing as Hawking radiation, so there's no contradiction between him and Hawking. Black holes forming isn't the same as the neutrinos going faster than light. What really boggles me, though, is where you say "other SUPER COLD experiments." Particle accelerators are not cold... Was your novel science fiction, or what?
Porglit (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@joniseh That's my point... You're saying everyone at CERN "forgot" about special relativity... They kind of go through all that stuff. It is their job, in fact. And if that was the case, how come they are still running the accelerator if it was "solved"? Not only that, but a separate accelerator also confirmed the measurement after the whole GPS scare. And you have to realize, they published the paper partly as a plead to other people to figure out where they went wrong.

@VulpineNinja Right on the money, mate.
joniseh (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@Porglit And how sure are you that any black hole would vanish instantly? I don't believe it. At least I won't believe it until it is proven that Hawking radiation exists. I'll trust Einstein over Hawking. And I'm not too worried about any Hadron created black holes, if any are created, most likely they would fly out into space, unless one spun around / down long enough until it slowed down below escape velocity. Its other super cold experiments that worry me. I just finished a novel on it.
joniseh (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@Porglit I really don't know how my physicists were involved in the CERN / OPERA neutrino "apparent" faster than light embarrassment. All I'm saying is that they spent months checking and double checking their measurements and instrument accuracy. But they didn't allow each GPS atomic clock is in a different reference frame, you have to compensate for relativity for super accurate measurements. So how smart are they really? Esp. to publish papers that superluminal neutrinos seem to be real.
Porglit (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@joniseh I don't think you grasped the concept of scientific research... It wasn't a back-of-the-envelope calculation. They studied everything to unbelievably exact detail. Thousands of world-class particle physicists don't just forget about relativity... Plus, they didn't just get excited when they got the result, they looked for any mistake for a good few months, because the answer they got was really weird. So now you're saying thousands of physicists failed for months. =P
