Jonathan Roy, son of Patrick, Destroys Bobby Nadeau

The 19-year-old son of former Colorado Avalanche goaltender Patrick Roy, was involved in a brawl on Saturday night in a Quebec Major Junior Hockey league game.Patrick Roy owns and coaches the Remparts and is accused of encouraging the attack by his son on the other team's players. Patrick Roy has denied the accusations.The Remparts were losing to the Chicoutimi Sagueneens 7-1 in the second period when Jonathan Roy skated to center ice and appeared to challenge the other goaltender to a fight. That initiated a brawl where Roy ripped off the other goaltender's mask and punched him several times. The other goaltender, Bobby Nadeau, did not defend himself.As Roy skated away, he made a rude gesture to the crowd and then got into a second fight with the other team's defenseman.Jonathan Roy was given two fighting majors, a minor and two game misconducts. Nadeau wasn't penalized.The Sagueneens went on to win 10-1.Roy says he was acting out of frustration and apologized on Monday.----------------------- ---------------UPDATE:Hall of Fame goalie Patrick Roy and his son were suspended a total of 12 games.The league said Tuesday that Patrick Roy was suspended five games for conduct related to his team's fight with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens on Saturday.Jonathon Roy was suspended seven games for barreling into Bobby Nadeau and repeatedly hitting him. The suspensions were effective immediately and could run into next regular season.The elder Roy, who was on the bench, denied playing any role in the melee, although he appeared to urge on his son with a wave before he attacked the rival goaltender.Chicoutimi player Sebastien Rioux was suspended six games for leaving the penalty box to fight Roy. Chicoutimi coach Richard Martel received an automatic two-game suspension for his player's conduct. No players were seriously hurt in the incident.
