@gilbertgonzalezjr true, but the bible was written by MEN, not God, or Jesus. Men are not infallible and neither are the men who wrote the bible. I believe in God, but the Bible is full of contradictions, and half-truths, like God creating the world in only seven days including mankind, when there were dinosaurs millions of years before men. I guess in that way, I'm somewhat agnostic, but I just can't buy the bible as God's official word when there are so many contradictions

@SadisticScott Matthew 23 explains how we are NOT to be ANY "religion" anymore. We are to apporach the throne BOLDLY as redeemed servants and FRIENDS of God since Jesus paid the ultimate price that "religion" was waiting for. No more priests, no more sage burning, no more pennants, nothing! Galatians 2 says it this way, "if righteousness [and religious practice] could get you into Heaven, then Jesus died for nothing. God HATES "religion".

The word religion comes from the latin verbs "religios" and "religare" meaning to be tied, bound, or indebted. When Adam and Eve sinned, we were BOUND to be in a "religion". It was an OUTWARD, duteous expression of our faith. However, when Jesus came, He did away with the system, crying out, "It is done!".

@gilbertgonzalezjr I don't think religion itself is a sham, but ORGANIZED/manmade religion sure is. To me, religion is just another word for spirituality. Organized "Religion" however has caused nothing but bigotry and hatred
