I saw Coco in NYC and Katherine Hepburn soared. Her vitality, energy & emotion totally enthralled the audience. Everything was truly beauitful. The sets and costumes were much grander than they looks on video, particularly the famous mirrored staircase. Rene Auberjonois (from "Mash") was wonderfully funny as one of her assistants. Much of the score is really lovely and I would recommend the CD to anyone interested in Broadway history.

Coco Chanel and Katharine Hepburn are very similar in many ways.

actually Kate does sing quite a bit before this sequence - it is the best part of this whole number - - see it at bluegobo dot com - thanks nonetheless - you can tell how personal this song is to the great Kate

Remember seeing Coco in Los Angeles and Hepburn was brilliant--she rose above the material and the audience adored her. A great great star.

Someone should post the whole video with the scene where it looks like it's a straight play before they go into this song. I think this was the longest Tony Awards performance ever at around 11 minutes.

haha that is the funniest part. I guess she wasn't a singer. |
