@mensacyclist Again, this is a general comment about a strawman weightlifter. Besides, this argument isn't against general fitness choices, it's about crossfiters putting faith in unqualified trainers who are certified by equally unqualified gurus like Riptoe in this video.

@jason44231 No. But squatting 600lbs. without steroids is. Go to any drug free powerlifting meet. You'll see a handful of guys who do that and more. Doing steroids, hitting a certain level of development, and then prematurely degenerating into a pot-bellied old man is not an accomplishment. Getting strong and staying strong into older age is an accomplishment. Think Clarence Bass. He's accomplished more than most and only dabbled with steroids briefly 35 years ago.

This video is about an old man concentrating on the ass of a young boy.

@mensacyclist Riptoe squated 600lbs on steroids? That's not accomplished.

@mensacyclist From my experience, better form = more weight. I don't keep good form just to humor myself, I do it to increase my lifts. When form gets even the slight bit off, you are sacrificing strength because you aren't utilizing all muscles properly.

@jason44231 nahbrah. just nah.

@THuGZZTA I believe my point was that there is not such thing as "perfect" form. People that spend every waking hour thinking about perfect form always seem to be the guys who bench 135 and think it's an accomplishment. Youtube is full of 150 lb. geeks criticizing accomplished liftest regarding their "form". It's comical. If you've been lifting for many years and you're not getting hurt, your form is good enough.....now load up the bar and stop being a neurotic girl.

@THuGZZTA Since I'm not a bodybuilder I don't particularly care what I LOOK like. I certainly have been lifting since age 14 and am currently 42. Obviously in those years there were bound to be distractions and pitfalls. I've been bigger...I've been smaller. But the experience remains intact despite my current condition (which is actually pretty good for a lifetime natural 42 y.o.)

@MrCopyrightable Then you have been shown incorrectly. You will be hurt if you try to use heavy weight.
MrCopyrightable (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@jason44231 It's a low bar squat. That technique is correct.
